Interfaith Services

Services at Todmorden

Services at the church are now within the Interfaith tradition. Interfaith is a relatively recent development in the field of Modern Spirituality originating in the ecumenical movement in New York in the 1970s. It traces its lineage back through the mystical hearts of humanity’s spiritual paths, and inhabits the space between all the historical faiths.

As the church is a community church, filled with community activity, we welcome into it any bona fide faith communities which would not usually be allowed to use normal religious buildings. Do enquire if you think your group might fit here as well.

Interfaith has no set dogma, and is not a hierarchical organisation. Every person’s individual experiences and beliefs are respected, welcomed and included, and all faith paths are seen as being different routes to the same goal, that of Oneness. Our Interfaith services seek to incorporate the essence of all the other services into a monthly ceremony. They consist of texts and readings, silence and music, meditation and mantras, all within a setting of calmness and centredness, lasting about an hour.

  1. I attended the 1st (ever) Interfaith Service at the Todmorden Unitarian Church on Sun 4th of May 2014. It was surprising and inspiring. I wish you all the best from my heart, and that more people discover this refreshing service on the 1st Sunday each month.
